The Birthmarked Trilogy

                              THE BIRTHMARKED TRILOGY
The Birthmarked Triolgy by Caragh M. O'Brien is a series not to be missed. The series starts off with 16 year old midwife, Gaia, trying to free her parents from inside the wall where they have been taken by handsome Capt. Grey by order of the Protectorate. We follow Gaia as she makes it inside the wall only to be imprisoned, only allowed out to help with the births of the people in the Enclave. Gaia escapes and takes her little sister into the "Dead Forest", a myth to most people. Gaia and her sister, on the edge of death, are taken to Sylum, where women are few but rule. Gaia is never used to being wanted, her scar made her that way, but when she is suddenly wanted by two guys, brothers, she doesn't know what to do. When an old friend shows up there is nothing but trouble for Gaia Stone.

Ashes By Ilsa J. Bick

Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick is a post-apocalyptic novel that follows tumor ridden 17 year old Alex; Tom, a solider running away from his duties; and Ellie, a temperamental 8 year old angry at the world, as they try and survive against "brain-zapped" kids. Alex realizes she can smell again (a trait taken away by her brain tumor) which helps her know when the Changed are around. Dogs suddenly love her and falling in love (with two men) was definitely not her idea.
This is a novel you'll be happy you read!

ten things we did (and probably shouldn't have)

Sarah Mlynowski's "ten things we did (and probably shouldn't have)" is an amzing first novel!

When April finds out her parents are leaving (again), she's willing to do anything to stay at school with her friends and her boyfriend, including lying to her parents. April moves into a house with no parents and, well, they do things they probably shouldn't have. As the days pass, April realizes living with no parents isn't as fun as it sounds.

The novel is instantly relatable and will keep you turning the page!

Everything But the Truth by Kate Kingsley

This book is a fun and flirty novel that takes you through the lives of teenagers who live at a boarding school in London.  Between the boys not knowing how to express their feelings and the girls sending the wrong messages, there is never a dull moment in this book!

Another Personality

What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen

Summary: Mclean is still reeling from the effect of her parents’ tough divorce. She has decided to live with her father, who helps redo restaurants to get them to prosper again, and they move from place to place. Mclean likes to move from place to place and change her personality when she does so. She never stays in touch with people she meets and always comes up with a new name for herself. Then Maclean and her father move to Lakeview and something changes, and she finally begins to put down some roots. She is struggling with the divorce and her fighting with her mother over custody, Mclean is having a difficult time but mostly struggles with herself about who she really is.

Thoughts: I think that this book took a long time to get into; t was a slow start up and I really couldn’t get sucked in till about half way through. Then once I was hooked it was a great book, I loved the way the character realizes who she is and how she needs to accept herself. It's not my favorite Dessen book, but I think it was a good read over all.

My Worst Best Friend by Dyan Sheldon

Gracie, a teenaged girl from a small town, goes through some normal high school drama with her best friend, Savanna.  One girl manipulates the relationship, while the other is too quiet to say anything.  This is a cute story that's a bit slow at first, put it picks up and gets good by the end.

Divergent by Veronica Roth

Divergent goes on sale 5/3/2011, however, I had the great opportunity to read the ARC of the novel just a few days ago thanks to our librarian, who received a copy from the publisher.

If you love The Hunger Games and Matched you'll love this debut novel! In this dystopian Chicago society, sixteen year olds get to decide whether they want to stay in their faction, leading the lives they've been leading, or choosing a new faction, taking them on a new journey through life. Tris leaves her faction and family behind and chose the Dauntless faction, the brave faction;a big leap from her old selflessness faction. There she finds friends and love through the everyday painful initiation, but she has a secret. A dangerous one...
