Tangled by Carolyn Mackler

Summary: Jena, Dakota, Skye, and Owen are four different kids, who all end up together in Paradise, a resort in the Caribbean. They all are there for different reasons, but their lives become tangled and brought together. Self-conscious Jena learns which guys are and are not worth it; playboy Dakota begins to realize how much of a jerk he’s been; teen actress Skye must come to terms with her past and the fact that her whole life just might be an act; and reclusive Owen may at least be ready to come out from behind his computer and meet the girl who’s changed his life.

Thoughts: This book is written from the view point of all four characters something i normally don't like, but with this steady plot and excellent writing it's not hard to follow at all. Mackler writes so you can relate to the characters and it's a book you just will not want to put down.

A road trip to remember

Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson

Summary: Amy feels like life just can't go right for her after the death of her father. She's struggling with moving on, especially because her family is so divided with her mother focusing on uprooting the family from California to Connecticut. Amy must meet her mother in Connecticut with the help of an old family friend, Roger, who happens to be cute -- and Amy's age ;-). The two have to confront their baggage and find a way to survive their journey down the longest road in America.

Thoughts: This book has such heart and feeling in it, it's so hard not to be able to relate to Amy. You can feel her pain on the death of her father, and her growing attraction for Roger. Her brother is turning to the wrong crowd and "extracurriculars" to get him through this tough time. Amy and Roger have an interesting drive across the country.
